The Two Types Of Human Relationships
According to philosopher and mystic Martin Buber, there are two kinds of human relationships: transactional, utilitarian relationships he called I-IT, and intersubjective ‘encounters’ he called I-Thou. I-IT relationships are purely functional, serving as a means to an end. I-Thou relationships offer truly meaningful connections between people.
