Day of the Girl
“We cannot live for ourselves alone. Our lives are connected by a thousand invisible threads, and along these sympathetic fibers, our actions run as causes and return to us as results.”
-Herman Melville
Today, October 11th, is International Day of the Girl Child so we created a special video to support the efforts of UNICEF to promote the rights of girls around the world, and to address the unique challenges they face in accessing the right to education.
Girls’ Education is the single most powerful investment for sustainable development: It raises overall economic productivity, lowers infant and maternal mortality, educates the next generation, improves nutrition and promotes health. But even though more girls are entering school than ever before, 31 million are still denied this right. Those that do attend school face major challenges – discrimination, financial stress, and threats to their safety, to name just a few. The world needs new, creative solutions to help girls everywhere overcome these barriers to learning and achievement.
